Watching Thai GL series is not without side effects, especially if we also follow any content about the on-screen pairing on social media. I was struggling the first time when I got into the fandom. It was with LingOrm, because their chemistry is really good, and don’t let me start with the interviews, they somewhat hint that they are more than just co-workers, but it could also be interpreted into anything. They are close—their friendship is real—but as long as there are no official statements from Lingling and Orm that they are dating, I refuse to be too delulu, it won’t be good for my well-being.
Do you get where I’m going with this? Some people might hate me for making this post, but some others do want to have the pills. So, here it is, the pills to bring you back to reality. It’s not only for LingOrm shippers, but for EVERY ship that exists out there.
If you like being in delulu, I’m not against it. By all means, enjoy the delulu. This post is only for people who are looking for pills. {alertWarning}

Pills #1: They have the training and they know what they are doing
Yes, I say it right. All the GL actresses have a proper training beforehand, something like Chemistry Workshop and Media Training. So it’s obvious that they are aware of the answers they are giving during interviews. They are also working to sell us the series that they play in. Of course they are going to do skinship—after all they have kissed on screen.
I believe that all the GL actresses are well prepared and they all know what they are doing. They want people to shouts and squeals every time they interact with each other. Moreover, they want to entertain their fans. It’s called “fan-service”, and they do serve. But I’m not saying we shouldn’t enjoy it. Of course, enjoy it, be entertained by it, but don’t think too much about it.
I do not say that they are leading you on, but what I’m saying is that the GL actresses are professionals. They want their fans to be happy, they want to do their job well, and they are often becoming close friends—or already have good bond—with their on-screen couple. So, the chemistry you feel from them is more likely because they are truly close in real life, but whether or not they are dating is none of our business.

Pills #2: Our tendencies, reading too much into things
We don’t see reality as it is, we see it as we want to believe it to be. The thing is, most of the GL on-screen couples are close friends or have a strong bond with each other, for example Lookmhe and Sonya (from AFFAIR) are best friends even before they are starring in GL series. Otherwise, it won’t be comfortable for them to kiss on screen or do some daring scenes for the series or the movie.
Our tendencies to see reality with our biases and beliefs, makes us want them to appear more than it is. If we want them to be a real couple in real life, then we will always finds clue of them being real couples in real life. There are a lot of research about human bias and what it can do to our brain and influence how we see the world around us. You can look at it for yourself, if you want to learn in-depth about this topic.
We should be aware of our biases and tendencies to read too much into things based on what we want to believe. More too often, reality is different, and turns out boring than our fantasy. I mean, after all the affection you see between them, who can accept the fact they are just doing their job? It’s unsatisfying to our brain when we heard that, isn’t it?

Pills #3: They have personal life that we will never know
I don’t know if you have heard but the actress called Love who played as on-screen couple with Milk on 23.5 the series, have boyfriend and they have been keeping their relationship private for more than 5 years. Both Milk and Love are still getting along well during fan meet events, shooting, and even working on new series together.
The point is, you will never know fully about the actresses’ personal life. We may spend a lot of time consuming any content related to them, but it doesn’t mean we know who they really are. There is a term for it, parasocial relationship, a one-sided relationships, where one person extends emotional energy, interest and time, and the other party, the persona, is completely unaware of the other's existence

The on-screen couples whom we thought are dating in real life, probably already have a real life relationship with someone else, regardless of their sexuality.
Thank you for taking the pills!
Let me end this post by saying, if we are too invested into something that is too far from reality, we are setting ourselves for disappointment. And I often see diluted and disappointed fans doing something malicious towards the actress or idols they like. There are many cases of stalking, blackmailing, and a flood of malicious comments towards the actress or their real life partner.
I don’t know if I can single-handedly stop the madness, but at least I hope this kind of post could make people more aware about the media that they are consuming. Thank you for taking the pills, and enjoy your favorite GL pairings with awareness always!
