I have to rewatch this series just to make a review here. THE SECRET OF US or TSOU for short, was super popular by the time it was airing for the first time. I will never forget the anticipation and fans interaction on X (formerly twitter) while waiting for the next episode. Now, I’m revisiting this series to complete my GL series review collection on my new blog/website.

What THE SECRET OF US is about?
The story focuses on the relationship of Fahlada (Lingling Kwong) and Earn (Orm Kornaphat). Both met when they were studying abroad, fall in love, and in a loving relationship for a couple of years until… all of a sudden Earn decided to break up with Fahlada, even saying mean things to her to make the break up ugly and traumatic for Fahlada.

2 years after the break up, Fahlada work as a doctor at her family hospital. She’s well-known as the best dermatologist in town, and their parents are confident that Fahlada would be the successor of the hospital soon. Though, inside, Fahlada hasn’t forget about Earn. She still wonders every night what she might did wrong that makes Earn left her, and if Earn really meant what she said to her that day they broke up.
One day, when the hospital is shooting a commercial to promote their beauty clinic, Fahlada meet with Earn again. And it surprises her as much as it surprises Earn. Now, Earn is working as an actress and a model. She is hired to be the MC for the commercial, and it enrages Fahlada, she refuses to shoot the commercial, unless they change the MC. But Fahlada’s father refuses Fahlada’s request, he thinks that Earn’s raising popularity could have a good impact on the commercial and the hospital promotion.
Earn—still in love with Fahlada—then uses the situation as her opportunity to mend her relationship with Fahlada. But could Earn get Fahlada back after what happened between them?

A Little Bit of Information About This Series
THE SECRET OF US is directed by Nay Saratswadee Wongsomphet, the same director who made the successful GL movie back in 2010, YES OR NO. This series also the first GL series produced by CH3 Thailand. The story is adapted from a novel with the same title, Jai Son Rak, written by Meenam.

This series is also the first time Lingling Kwong and Orm Kornaphat, the two main casts, played as the main characters. Aside from their beautiful appearance, their chemistry as Fahlada and Earn is superb and convincing. Both the actresses are getting along so well, on or off camera, which makes many fans speculate—until today—if they have fallen in love with each other because of starring in this series.

The Review of The Secret of Us
Gossips aside, I have to point out that I really like the writing of the script. The happiness doesn’t come easy for the main characters. It also stays true from the source material—the angst, the agony, the longing between Fahlada and Earn—and they only adjusted the timeline to make more sense as a live-action series. For example, in the novel, the break up between Fahlada and Earn happened a year before, while in the series, they added a couple more years to make sense for both the character’s development after the ugly tragedy of their break up.
I also like the way this series redeeming some side characters in a way that is so painful for the main characters but so beautiful for me as a viewer. So when the ending finally arrives, it feels earned. We could feel how much Fahlada and Earn been through so many things together.
However, in the technical side, THE SECRET OF US still has some flaws. They did not retouch the actresses’ makeup, and the production feels so rushed that I feel they are missing some minor details. Thanks to Lingling Kwong and Orm Kornaphat’s wonderful performance, those minor technical errors seem like nothing.
