How articles in this website is made?

It’s more than once or twice my cousin told me that almost all the movies I picked to watch are weird and disturbing. That was how my cousin described it. He always wondered too, “wow, they made this kind of movies?

To give you a glimpse of what he meant by that, here is a list of movies I watched recently:
  • Bones and All (2022)
  • Adolescence (2025)
  • Pearl (2022)
  • Black Mirror - Season 7 (2025)

I don’t know but I just like something surprising, experimental, and a spectacle. I’m bored with commercial movies sometimes, they are easily predictable, sometimes not a good entertainment as well—at least for me, personally.

Another reasons why, is I came from Literature background. I see stories differently than most people. I like something of substance, depth, and metaphorical. I like something that has the element of suspense—keeping my eyes glued to the screen from beginning till the end. Sometimes experimental movies could be realized beautifully, although the supply is scarce.

I should also note that I like commercial movies for entertainment too. I don’t always watch weird and disturbing movies—I still haven’t found the right term for it yet.

Lately, I’ve been enjoying Southeast Asian movies and television series, mainly from Thailand. Sometimes I find the story to be good and enjoyable. The talent of the actress is also remarkable and deserves appreciation. Despite how the GL/BL industry works, I like watching non GL/BL movies too.

Recently I watched Thailand movie on Netflix called, “Frozen Hot Boys” (2025). Which has a really inspirational message behind it. I also like “How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies” (2024). I guess it’s because of the cultural-relate-ability—I’m a Southeast Asian too, but I’m not Thai.

Telling you this, I thought, maybe it could help you understand my bias and my point-of-view too. I have no preferences, but when I watch a movie or a series, I don’t only see the visuals, but I pay more attention to the story, how the actors perform the character, and how the director directs the story.

When I review a movie/series, I tend to look for things, by asking questions like:
  • What is the core message of the story? Is there any?
  • How they execute or realize it? Does it align with the core message of the story?
  • Why they choose that creative direction? Does it align with what they are trying to say?

In the end, it should answer the bigger question: is this movie/series worth everyone’s time?

These are the same metrics I used for my previous blog/website called Moonhill.id—it’s dead now so you won’t be able to find it.

All in all, I must note that I try to be as objective as possible when giving recommendations, making review, and in-depth analysis. Even though my taste in movie/series is not common, I will try my best to put myself in general audience’s shoes.

I hope from this post you could learn a little bit about who I am, and how I made the articles in this website.
